For those of you who have never volunteered at a
100 mile ride, it's a blast. By the time it gets late, there's not a lot
of riders and they're often well spread out. The pressure is off, and the
volunteers and vets really get into cheering the riders on. It's
awe-inspiring seeing riders set out from Pickett Springs at the OD, knowing
what a tough climb they have to make, often in the dark. And, if you're
not working the final vet check, you get to wrap up in a blanket
(with something to drink) at the finish line and cheer the riders
as they come in. I'd gladly to it again.

I've been
asking (pleading with) our PS RMs for years to put on 100s and been told
it's not cost effective and it's too hard to get volunteers (staying up
all night's really not fun if you're not riding).
