RE: [SPAM] Re: [RC] [RC-Digest] Vol: 03.2994 - heidiThe ride managers' committee was very much against any fee increase, as Connie and Randy have previously stated. Why is this a big deal for ride managers? One figures one's entry fee based upon what one's costs are projected to be. It is the riders who pay it. And just to get this into perspective from a rider's point of view, so far my husband and I have 13 starts between us this year. IF we get to finish the season as we plan, we could have as many as 11 more between us, IF we both manage to ride all five days of Steph's October ride. If there had been a fee increase this year, and it had been passed on to us, it would have cost us a maximum of $24 for the YEAR. There are families who ride more than we do, but also families/individuals who ride a lot less. I suspect we are rather average. How many riders are going to go broke and leave the sport if they have to pay $1 more per ride? Gee, I could skip a soda on the way home... Personally, I think raising the rider fee is one of the fairest ways for AERC to gain a bit of income. If you don't ride, you don't pay. The more you ride, the more you pay. I have to be pretty frugal with a buck, but if the ride entries cost me one more dollar next year, it isn't going to make me stay home, either.
