[RC] Cost to Riders - mkrumlawOK....as numbers are my life...I had to do the math.... Last week I was in Illinois for a ride and the fuel was $ 2.56 a gallon. This week fuel jumped to $3.09 a gallon. Given our truck, F350 Dually Powerstroke, and current gas mileage (around 11 to 12 towing) the difference in fuel would be slightly less than .04 a mile. A 400 mile drive (round trip) would cost an additional $17.67. Considering what most of us have in trucks, trailers, horses, and ride costs, I wouldn't think this would deter that many people from coming. Being a ride manager, I'm looking at the rides I'm offering next year (scioto Run, May, NE) and have decided to offer a 25/50 each day with discounts for those riding both days. Additionally we're looking at some alternative loops to provide more variety to those wanting to ride both days. I'm hoping this will help attract more riders as well as provide a more economical solution for some.
