[RC] Dogs, horses, and snakes/elec collar? - Ridecamp GuestPlease Reply to: Ray O'Donohue rno2m@xxxxxxxxxxxx or ridecamp@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ========================================== Too bad our dogs and horses can't all get just enough of a bite in the nose to be a painful but harmless lesson. We "snakeproof" our dogs with the elec. collar (it's one of the few times I ever use the "high" settings.)It's not always effective;I've heard some dogs decide thereafter to pre-emptively attack and kill every snake they encounter. The collar deal ought to work with horses;the settings would need to be very low for a horse.(You catch a non-poisonous snake, put it in a pillow case, and put it in the refridgerator for at least two hours to make it torpid enough to control during the lesson.)Chico don' like snakes;some deer apparently hate 'em,judging from the deer-stomped snakes I've seen.Maybe they did get a punch(non-venemous or "dry" venemous) in the nose while grazing, and thus learned. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
