RE: [RC] Gray Arabian loosing pigment - heidiPlease Reply to: Margot Wallace wallritz@xxxxxxx or ridecamp@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ========================================== I am praying someone out there may be able to help me! I have a 7 yr old, gray arabian gelding. In the past several weeks he has begun loosing pigment of his skin. Manifesting itself in many, many pink spots(his skin is black) that are most apparent when he is wet. These started on his face and have spread rapidly over his body in the past two weeks. He has not lost hair. The vet did not have a clue. Has anyone out there experienced this???? It is most common in Arabs, but it is related to a trace mineral deficiency. If memory serves, copper deficiency can be a part of the problem. I'd suggest contacting an equine veterinarian who is well versed in nutrition.
