Wow...what a gorgeous ride!  I'm so envious of the trails you guys out west get to ride.  Thanks for taking me along with you (vicariously) on this ride.  :)  I wish I'd been into endurance when I still lived in Oregon (many years ago)...would have loved to ride the trails I used to hike on there.

Zini and I went to Eastern High Sierra Classic at 
the weekend. That has got to be one of the most 
mind-blowingly beautiful rides ever. 
 
Predictably, I managed to take tons of photos, most 
of them while moving, so then I had to go back and 
get rid of about 50% of them because they were blurry 
or I'd missed the subject totally.

complete with full-colour captions. I rode with Judy 
Long and Nick Warhol and we had lots of fun and 
dawdled in a the back of the ride, so there aren't 
many pictures of anyone else - we never really *saw* 
anyone else...

The ride was won by Tracy Cary on a bay horse (apparently 
no t her normal horse, although I know nothing about either 
horse) and BC went to Cathy Richardson and Fifi (who just 
won Tevis). 
 
There were 30 30-milers and 75 50-milers. 
 
Weather was in the 70s (bliss) and warm enough the night 
before the ride that I slept with the trailer door open 
and just the screen pulled. The mosquitos just next to 
camp were copious and mean. 
 
Wildlife on the trail included garter snakes, kestrels, 
white-tailed deer, water bottles, EZ boots, and cows.
