[RC] OT - ever install a bridge or culvert to connect pastures? - Kristi Schaaf

Hi all -
HHHMMMMM...how to make this endurance related....we're
clearing out some land at the back of our property for
more pasture so the horses have more room to roam,
therefore getting more fit for distance riding. So
there's the endurance connection...he he he he.
Anyway, the only way to reach this area is to cross a
creek. I know the horses would be fine crossing the
creek, but hubby needs some sort of crossing for the
mower or pickup or whatever needs to get across, plus
he feels it's much safer if the horses do cross on a
solid bridge rather than the possibly unpredictable
footing of the creek bed and bank. We have no
experience with this so if anyone on ridecamp DOES,
please contact me! Solid ground to solid ground is
approx 20 feet; we are trying to decide if putting in
a culvert with fill dirt is the best choice, or if we
should literally build a wooden bridge (we're thinking
big telephone poles with heavy wood planks). We'll try
to figure out whom to contact as a local 'expert' but
would love to hear any suggestions/advice. Please
email me at iluvdez@xxxxxxxxx Kristi
