[RC] Fw: Sad news - Maggie MieskeI had not planned to send this to Ridecamp but I realized that there will be people I will miss if I don't and I want everyone to know if only to help them appreciate today more. It is our horsey friends that will get my sister and ourselves through this tragedy and many of you are among those friends even if you aren't automatically in my address book! Dear Friends, For those of you who know my sister, Mary and her filly, Badar, I wanted to pass along the sad news of Badar's untimely death from a brain aneurysm today. Mary and Badar were on a trail ride with our dear forever friend, Rob Losey and his mule, Annabelle when she suddenly stumbled backward, collapsed and died very quickly and suddenly, bleeding out from the ears. Mary was able to step off and was not injured....leave it to Badar to take good care of her rider to the very end. We are all devastated and feel horrible for Mary and as sad as we are at the loss, we are grateful for such a peaceful, painless passing and that Badar died doing exactly what she loved with the person she loved. If we could all be so lucky. She was laid to rest gently and lovingly by Rob himself in a beautiful spot under a cherry tree where his wife, Judy and Mary will be planting many a flower in the future. Badar will be sorely missed and remembered fondly forever. Hug your horses, dogs and pets, don't forget your kids, your spouse, and everyone you love because you never know when you wake up in the morning who will be with you (or not) at the end of the day. Mary would appreciate your good wishes and I am sure she wouldn't mind a quick e-mail telling her you are thinking of her right now... mahawa@xxxxxx We are so grateful for all of our wonderful friends. Rob and Judy Losey are remarkable people and they are simply STUCK with us forever. God bless them. Soon, Mary and Rob (and the rest of our "Steak and Ride" group) will be trucking down the trail again together... Mary will not give up riding and I am so proud of her in the face of this horrible tragedy. She does not feel Badar would want her to give up riding and I heartily agree. I look forward to riding with her again soon and I am 100% certain that wherever and whenever Mary rides, Mahawa's Dancin Badar will be right beside her.
