[RC] WHY TROT? - apleg8'nHeidi I was talking to Mike Mclean at Sunriver and he said almost the same words as you just did. He and Ina used to own a Walker. He said he couldn't stand that rolling motion. I found this quite odd as there is no rolling motion except if the horse is pacing. So I asked Mike about this and sure enough...his horse only paced! Well no wonder he hated it! There is nothing worse than a pace, it is a lateral gait that throws you side to side. You can't post it you just have to "roll" with it and it is the pits with a capitol SH. If you have ever ridden a true RW, I am here to tell you, there is no smoother gait. Your body doesn't "flex" one iota. It is heaven on earth! A rack being a faster gait will not be as smooth, but still smoother than a trot. But a true RW...well if you find a horse that does this gait, I will argue til the cows come home that there is nothing like it and your body just purrs with delight and you have to wipe the bugs off your teeth from the cheshire grin you can't get off your face. And I am talking a head bobbin, hock slidin old fashion Run Walk. Oooohhhh, I am going to go ride one now! amber rackinfool www.applegaitnendurancehorses.com ----- Original Message ----- From: heidi@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
