RE: [SPAM] Re: [RC] [GaitedEnduranceRiders] WHY TROT? - heidiKitty, I sure can't *rest* my body at a trot, that is why I left my arabs. As has been said by others in this thread, to each his own. I find the trot to be a very restful gait, and I wince when I see folks ride gaited horses. The times I've ridden gaited horses, the bit of a rolling motion has bothered my back. Yes, it is very "smooth"--I just don't flex in that direction. That doesn't happen to me on a horse with a good trot, and I have no trouble getting in synch with a horse with a good trot, so that it truly is "restful." Additionally, not all horses trot alike--most of mine have been quite smooth at the trot, and in fact, when trotting downhill, I can purtnear sit the trot with no discomfort. Like horses, we are all individuals--thank goodness there are lots of different types of horses out there to suit the varied needs of all of us.
