I
am not sure where to begin when I tacked up Saturday even early it was
warm. I figured it would be a nice ride to Fitchetts and a trailer ride
in. This weather was extreme even for the Arabians what was I thinking? How
good a big old Morgan built like a Belgian get thru? Easy one
helluva crew that would NOT give up and all the ice available in Front
Royal!! I challenge any of you who crew(and God Bless you all) if you think
it was work to get the Arabians thru try a Morgan! My crew of Patty
Stedman, April Dobson, and Judy Cottrell not only had Hawk pulsing without
failing the CRI they would sponge him the whole time we were in at the
holds. Thanks ain't even good enough. This was the first ride ever I was
concerned about finishing on time. At Liberty with less than 5 miles to go
and only about an hour to spare I was ready to quit. Heck we were
not doing 5 mph in the light how could scramble up the last climb in the
dark and be in on time? Hubby Charles said I don't care how but at least
try. At 10:15 Natalie Muzzio also on a Morgan along whom I had rode with
all day attempted it and succeeded finishing in 3rd and 4th place with 10
minutes to spare! How could I have ever doubted Hawk? He knew he was on the
way in and he took charge. We know have completed the 50/75 and the
100 next year we shall do the 25 and be done by dark which actually was
the goal for this year.. THANKS Old D what a ride what an experience great
job kudos to all the volunteers Morgan Power!! mary
