Once time when i was at the vet clinic, the vet was rather distressed. I asked him what was wrong. He said he had just come back from our local equestrian camp at the state park and had to put down a horse that had been tied to a trailer. The horse had laid down and stuck his front feet under the trailer. he broke a leg when he tried to stand up.

 

After hearing that, I've always tied my horses so that they cannot lay down. I've been using an electric corral for the horse who respects it. The others get tied to the trailer. I hate making them miss their naps, but I'd rather have all their legs intact.
