Re: [RC] re: brand inspections - Sisu West Ranch"....When I approached a MT brand inspector about getting one - he said I didn't need one...." There is a lot of BS floating around this country, spouted by (un)civil servants who should know better. When I was moving to MT I was stopped on the freeway for a routine traffic stop. The deputy sheriff took my money for the alleged violation, and told me that I was supposed to stop at the first county in MT to get a brand inspection. I told him that I had interstate health, coggins, registration papers, and a MT number. He told me he was going to let me go "this time", but to never do it again. The deputy also had some sort of a beef with hunters from WI (this was not hunting season). I have always wondered how much, if any, of the cash "fine" he collected actually got to the courts. I checked with the brand inspector when I got to my new home. He told me that the interstate papers were all I needed.
