Re: [RC] re: brand inspections - Truman PrevattAccoring the the FL state vets office (I checked with them before I went out west the first time) - it is not necessary as long as you have positive ID. Just because they made you do it doesn't mean you had to - although it was a hell of a lot easier to pay a few buck to avoid the hassle. That's what I would have done, and then file a complaint when I got back home ;-) .When I approached a MT brand inspector about getting one - he said I didn't need one (although I was going to pay him to do it) since FL was not a brand inspection state. So my guy says you don't need it and your guy said you do. Sounds like WY and NV made some money off of you. I've pretty much traveled all over the intermountain west, had to show health papers a couple of times, coming into UT on I80 at the POE, coming into CO from UT (VS outbreak). I stopped at the POE into WY on I25 where they told me I didn't need to stop unless I was selling the horses in WY. With health certificate and Coggins in hand - not once did the word brand inspection come up.
