Re: [RC] Time off before 100s - heidiTapering is a good ideal (and probably what most people do), but tapering is not completely stopping training. It is modifying training to peak for an event. Throwing a horse in the pasture for three weeks prior to a ride would be the same as a runner sitting on the couch, watching TV and eating chips and dip instead of working out for three weeks before a run. Tapering makes a lot of sense, stopping all training doesn't. I guess "tapering" means different things to different horses. As I watch my horses cavort and tear around in the pasture, I have a hard time finding it to be the equivalent of my sitting on the couch, watching TV, and eating chips and dip! ;-) Heidi =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
