We have a herd of about 70 head that winters right in here. The elk come down onto our property in winter, too. Our local herd is probably only 20+/- critters, though. So far they haven't gone into the pastures with the horses that I've seen, but they sure come right up into our front yard. The elk had already left for the year as far as I'd known when we came across them on the trail. I hadn't seen any in well over a month. Just wasn't expecting to find them out on the trail so close to our house. I've been trying to figure out what other animals I've come across on the trails and so far I've thought of rattlesnakes (including one memorable encounter during an endurance ride), wild pigs, foxes, coyotes, deer and then the elk that one time. Plus the cage full of monkeys on the Hog Wild ride... ~Nicole Zephyr Arabians http://www.zephyrarabians.com KattWmn Web Design http://www.kattwmn.com =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
