Re: [RC] pommel pack question - Kristen A Fisher

Yes, this happened to me with my $300 cell phone. This was my email to friends about why they couldn't reach me by cell:

I am sad to report that yesterday my Motorola V300 tried to commit cell phone suicide by jumping out of my saddle pack somewhere on the north trail at Lake Ray Roberts in Sanger, TX [if you are from TX, you must pronounce the "G" in SanGer]. We had no other cell phone on the trail so were not able to track it by the HELLO MOTO ringtone we have all grown to love. We did find 2 accomplices, the hoof pick and the vet wrap, but neither are talking.

I can still reach my voice mail, but the phone whereabouts are unknown. Look for my phone to show up on the side of a milk carton, or perhaps the hit CBS drama "Without a Trace." We did see a coyote run across the trail so if repeated calls to local steak houses appear on my bill I will have pinpointed the suspect.

I now tie the 2 zipper tabs together, or will safety pin them to keep them from separating. In a pinch I have also used a hair elastic rigged to keep them together. I had a friend riding behind me and to this day I badger her about why she didn't catch it when it went flying out!

I started keeping the cell in my Camelbak because I figure if Rosie runs off, she won't answer the phone when I call her and demand to know where she is.
