RE: [RC] trailer "scramblers" - Ranelle RubinWhen I had a horse that did this, and still used a 2H straight loading trailer, I took the pin out of the back of the divider, swung it over and tightly wired it to the ring that held the butt rope. This acted like a slant load trailer, which made the horse much happier. I think this is a better solution than removing the divider if possible as it still creates a barrier. I would worry about a horse that could effectively get sideways in the trailer. Some were ok if the divider in a straight load was just a bar, way above the floor, and some would only ride well if they were on the "right" side for that horse. (In other words, they did not bump the outside wall with the "wrong" foot) Once they get started in this kind of panic mode they need a lot of room to get over it. Eventally a few learn it's ok no matter where they are. Everyone I can remember was fine with no divider, alone or with another horse in the double stall. All would ride well in a pickup rack alone. And they all were happy in any slant load or loose in a stock trailer or a stock truck. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
