Re: [RC] Easy Boot Question - Laney Humphrey

It sounds like the boot wasn't cut down far enough in the back. Basically, the entire rear of the boot should be cut off, all the way down almost to the sole. Many people also cut the strap about in half (vertically) to make sure it doesn't rub against the tender heel bulbs. The metal prongs on the sides of the boot should also be bent flat so they don't dig into the sides of the hoof. There is more to it than that which experts in EZ boot use will add to what I've said, I'm sure.

==========================================

Have a question re using easy boots; used one on my horse for the
second time ever this weekend, and the ride we were on had a lot of water crossings, resulting in the inside of the boot being wet for the majority of the ride. This appears to have made Shaba a little sore where the back of the boot was contacting him
by the end. Is there something to place inside the boot to prevent rubbing in the back? Has anyone else had this problem, or am I doing something wrong?? Was it because he is used to having shoes w/ pads on all of the time?
Thanks,

Lauretta and Shaba (feeling much better now that my foot is dry and out of the boot, thank you!!)
