[RC] Owyhee 100 - Steph Teeter

Many many thanks to the riders who braved the Owyhee floods (desert??), and
to the volunteers who make these (all) rides possible. Lynn Nicholson and
Sue Nance (Galloping Gourmets) put together a fantastic dinner Friday
night - three different types of homemade lasagna, a wonderful tortellini
soup, salad, bread, carrot cake, chocolate-zuchinni cake, deadly brownies -
it was all wonderful - thanks you so much Lynn!

The trail on Saturday was just about as perfect as it gets. A little slick
in spots in the morning, but otherwise ideal footing, and better as the day
progressed. A little gloomy in the morning, but got better all day, breezy,
sunny by mid-day. The 100 was won by Christoph Schork in 10:30 - turtles
finished in around 15 hours. It's a more technical course than the Arabian
Nights ride, more elevation and some tricky sections, but a little more
interesting as well. And it was green!!! I'll probably add an FEI 100 to
this ride next May - should be a reasonable course, doable in the 13:20
required for COC, but still a little more challenging than the flat Arabian
Nights course.
