Re: [RC] teeth and rule 13 - Sisu West RanchIf one has a horse that has had drug for a good medical reason anywhere near the time of a ride, it is always a good idea to make sure that the drug, date of administration, reason, and vet are disclosed to the ride vet before the ride, and to the drug testor, if your horse is tested. If a tiny residue is discovered on the testing, your disclosure and the opinion of the ride vet that it was OK for your horse to start, would be a good defence. Even if the AERC committee decided that you should have the compeltion removed, they would be very unlikely to sanction you severely because you where honest and had sought and relied on what you considered to be "expert" advice. By the way, you do not have to worry about whether the particular "drug" is banned. Rule 13 bans all substances period. The only question is whether there is a potentially "performance enhancing" residue in the horse on the date of the ride.
