RE: [RC] [RC] Tire Pressure and Weight - ll coleGood site Julienne. Thanks for the link. And on the tire pressure/weight front. Just got back from the Cooper dealer, so I posed the question to him. He's been in business here since the 50s and does all our USDA trucks. He advises when hauling heavy loads, close to the limits on a tire's weight rating, to put the tire pressure at the max rating found on the tire. He further recommends that any new tires that we install should be filled with nitrogen as opposed to atmospheric air. The reason; nitrogen pressure doesn't fluctuate with temperature changes like regular air, it doesn't corrode the wheels, and it leaks or seeps out(as all rubber air filled tires do) at a rate 65% less than air(equates to longer wear and better fuel mileage). Now that may be more than anyone wanted to know about tires, but when it comes to getting to and from somewhere, like an endurance ride miles from home, ..... (to keep it endurance related).
