[RC] Grade Horse Registry - k s swigart

Some of the reasons do not make sense to me. An
example is "The American Grade Horse Registry.

The purpose for the Grade Horse Registry is to keep track of the
pedigree of horses that for some reason don't meet the requirements of
some other more narrowly defined registry. Presumably because these
people understand that the only way you can link pedigree to performance
is if you keep track of the pedigree, no matter how the horse is bred.
And the only way to make sound breeding decisions is to link pedigree to
performance. If "grade" horses are performing, it is worthwhile to
track their pedigrees, and yes, even if they are geldings because while
geldings don't breed on, it is possible to "repeat" the breeding that
produced them....but only if you know what it is.
