Thanks for the heads-up. I'll be sure to keep
an eye on mine. Not a big deal to buy a replacement every 4-5
years at that price.

You do have to inspect them periodically.
PVC girths contain plasticizers. These substances change PVC which is
hard, like the PVC waste water pipes in houses, into a soft flexable
material. Eventually, time, movement, sweat etc. extracts the
plasticizer from the PVC girth. In my case after 5 years or so this
reached the critical point 22 miles into a ride and produced a girth sore from
the stiff cracked PVC.
