Re: [RC] great mares - John TeeterThey are arabian lines. I'm not a horse guy - so I don't know anything about good/bad lines - my comment is on process mostly. But I've heard Polish (I know a very expensive polish mare - it's white) - and french (Persik lines are being used) etc - I'll try to get some pedigree info - it's floating around and would be of interest to those knowledgeable. but the process - yes - it's more like what they have done with Polo horses. Large breeding operations (the polo people here run upwards of 100 mares!!) with training facilities which are generally loosely integrated with the breeding farms. My point was - they focus on the whole - they try to affect both the sire and the mares and they tend to compete on their own offspring. FEI kind of endurance is relatively new here. Arabian Association endurance events have been held since 1985. Successful Breeders - I haven't seen the list of Argentine entries for the PAC yet, but Haras San Andreas Del Moro, Estanar Endurance, Hara La Matera, and the Sanches Brothers are 4 that have horses on the list I'm pretty sure. and Haras Los Estribos does have a list of offspring which have been very successful. Like I said earlier, there are @10 of these outfits, each producing 10-20 good prospects/year. Soem they sell early, some they take into competition themselves. Australia does it in a similar way too I think. jt. johnt =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
