Re: [RC] great mares - Bette LamoreHi Anonymous Guest No one is saying that there aren't mares superior to stallions--- some mares--- some stallions. The reality is that a mare has one (or more, now they allow registration of more than one embryo transfer/year) foal a year possible and there is always risk involved-- either to the mare bred or implanted. Most mare owners aren't willing to "stand" their quality mares. I do lease my mares to breed to my stallion--- only to promote my stallion--- not to promote the mare who can have limited progeny without considerable cost in vet bills. Do the math-- it just ain't profitable whereas a stallion can stand and breed many mares in a season at little or no risk to himself. Stallion owners are having problems making it--- what would mare owners have to charge for a mare fee to make it-- and then there would be the endless whining about mare costs ;-) Bette Lamore Whispering Oaks Arabians Home of Bunny and 16.2h TLA Halynov who lives on through his legacy Hal's Riverdance! http://www.arabiansporthorse.com Always remember: "Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away."
