It depends on the horse, the terrain,
and the severeity of the case. Some horses are totally in pain and can't stand
it. I have had horses that aren't even phased. It is like having a bad rash or
burn on your hands, irritation factors are the key. Scratches are a pain, but I
have found that "Muck-Itch" a spray on product that knocks them out fast. Also,
Dr. Naylor's Hoof-N-Heel helps if you can't find Muck-Itch. I also use spray on
sunscreen on the white areas in the summer.
