Re: [RC] Kids, ponies and distance riding... Get a grip people - Sisu West Ranch"... I sub at our alternative school from time to time, and one of the things that I've noticed is that NOT ONE of the kids there has had the opportunity to have an outlet such as horseback riding..." I had a neighbor who had 3 daughters. The oldest one developed an anorexia problem. The next oldest one got into drugs. The youngest finally convinced him to let her have a horse, she had no problems growing up. He later said to me "If I had known how easy it was I would have gotten the other two horses when they wanted them." A friend in our saddle club years ago finally got custody of his two children. The boy was mildly retarded (or whatever the proper PC word is this year). Two years of horse riding changed that boys whole life around. Here was an activity he could do, with people and kids who didn't tease him. Moral: There is something about the outside of a horse that is good for the inside of a person. With apologies to whom ever I stole the quote from. Ed
