RE: [RC] Chiropractic for locking stifles - Stephanie E Caldwell
Lani,
My mare had locking stifles and still does
if we’re not careful. She’s been treated with a chiropractor and
massage therapist, but neither one made much difference in her problems. She
was quite a rodeo horse and stretched the ligament bucking, so her problems
might differ from your horse!
My routine was to trot hills at least two
or three times a week and rarely canter, it’s tough on stifles. She’s
out of shape and been on pasture rest/stall rest for a year now, so it’s
bugging her. I usually give her buteless as I bring her back to reduce the inflammation
and help with pain. I keep her on a joint supplement of some sort, been using
Lame Away with good results until we figured out she might be insulin
resistant, now she’s not on anything.
Hope this helps and good luck with your horse. If you want more info
please email me privately!
Steph

locking stifles
Has
anyone out there used chiropractic or acupuncture to remedy locking
stifles? Would like to hear any and all replies from those who have
actually tried it, successful or not, if successful how long did it help, did
it have to be done periodically to maintain fitness of the ligaments. I
welcome RideCamp or private replies. Have to make a decision soon on what
to do with my horse, if we can fix it or do I find another horse. Any
help gratefully appreciated. I did look into the archives, didn't find too
much on the above treatments.
