Re: [RC] Fear - heidi*Hey, this is so true, although the one time the 5 year old got me off.....was a fast spin at some birds; I was riding alone on a windy day and unfortunately got dumped on a very hard road (left shoulder hurt for months). My mare was startled by me being deposited on the ground; she trotted away then stopped and turned and looked at me.....THANK goodness I trained this mare to come to a special call for a carrot....I called her, she came to me and I gave her the carrot i always try to remember to carry in the saddle..... Karen 'Sfunny, I came off of the "quick" horse on a windy, upset sort of a day this spring (not entirely sure what he spooked at)--we were only about half a mile from home when it happened, so he DID run home (I don't think he would if it wasn't in sight, as I'm his security blanket as well), and when I got there, he was trembling and quaking in the barnyard and SO happy to see me. I don't think the possibility of my coming off ever even remotely occurred to him, and it scared him spitless! He was quite happy when I got back on again and rode out to the site of the "incident" and back, and it seems to me that ever since, even though he is reactive and will "booger" a bit at things, he has seemed to be really careful to do so in such a way that he doesn't risk my coming off again. <g> Heidi =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
