Dyane I've had falls like that, too--those that just helped get me over my fear of falling. It is hard to plan for wild turkeys (more apt to be deer jumping out of the bushes under their noses here) but the good thing about those sorts of "unplanned dismounts" is that they tend to happen when you are relaxed, and in my experience, at least, tend to be limited to a few bruises and a wounded ego. And since one isn't badly injured, it is possible to get back on the horse right then (or shortly after, if it takes a few minutes to catch up with him) while the adrenalin is still up a bit and the fear has not had time to take root and fester.
