i almost gave up the sport a year or so ago.
i had purchased a horse that was way too smart for my green abilities.
after i sold her, i completely started over. i took lessons as if
i'd never handled a horse before. bought a sweet horse and he and i spent
many hours in the arena learning leg signals, butt signals (or whatever you call
them) how to cool off when the horse feels hot and bucky....just a lot of stuff
like that.
well, it all worked for me. most recent
example is, we got off trail at the patriot ride and completed a beautiful
roll-back on the mountain-side that enabled us to turn around without my
dismounting. that was quite an accomplishment that i owe to our trainer,
Kathy Chamblis, and all those hours relearning the basics.
Has anyone ever had a couple of bad experiences or accidents
and developed fear to the point where it really interfered with your riding?
If so what things worked for you to get back in the game? Thanks
