Re: [RC] Mares as Riding Horses - Chris PausYup! So far, I've resisted the temptation to breed my young mare. I'm having so much fun riding her , not only do I not want to lose the time, I don't want to lose her! I've been doing this long enough to know the terrible things that can happen during foaling. So far, I'm not willing to risk this mare to that, even though her conformation and attitude are superb and probably should be passed on! I just want to enjoy her, she's so much fun to ride. And yes, she has a tremendous amount of heart and is so brave. She's been willing to try new things in half the time it would take me to talk a gelding into it! chris And, of course, if you don't want to even lose that much opportunity for competition when riding a mare, you just don't breed her. I don't see much of a problem with that! ________________________________ Lif Strand fasterhorses.com Quemado NM USA High Country Rider: An endurance rider's journal www.fasterhorses.com/highcountryrider/ ===== "A good horse makes short miles," George Eliot Chris and Star BayRab Acres http://pages.prodigy.net/paus =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
