Re: [RC] truck stops vs rest stops - heidi

Sorry but have to NOT agree that a truck stop is safer. HOWEVER, one
must realize that anyplace but home sweet home is going to be more
dangerous to a horse.

Remember, MaryAnn, that the point under discussion was where a single
woman should sleep, not what was safe for unloading horses. I agree that
a busy truck stop is NOT the safest place to unload the horses! When I
sleep at truck stops, the horses stay IN the trailer with hay nets and
water buckets. Since they are not in compartments, they have nearly the
freedom of a stalled horse, and they rest quite well when the trailer is
not moving.

For the safety of a sleeping human, however, I still believe that one is
safer in an area that has quite a bit of traffic. Some rest areas also
have wall-to-wall truckers, but at remote ones, one is more easily prey to
real weirdos. There IS safety in numbers.
