Re: [RC] Electronic Communication on Trail? - heidiappears to have been written to address a physical pacing/prompting. If you try to extend it to verbal pacing by a member of your crew, it's a stretch. And it only addresses non-entrants. What if someone as a 25 miler started radioing to a 50 miler friend from camp saying "step on it, if you get here in 15 mins you will top ten"? Nowhere does it say "physical" in the rule. The verbal aspect would be prompting--and yes, it has to do with such things as being able to call the rider from the vet check and say, "So-and-so is falling back, so if you step on it, you might be able to catch him," or "So-and-so got out of here looking great and pulling away, so save your horse for next weekend." The rider should have to figure out how to ride their own ride without that sort of "insider" assistance.
