[RC] spooking spinning - Jena Williams

Spurs for spooks? I would never ride my guy in spurs. ESPECIALLY when he was very sensative and spooky. That would have make him explosive and one or both of us would have been seriously injured.

JMO. Knowing what and where his emotional limit was and teaching his repsonses to my aids to be reflexive worked for us. One rein stops, whoa, standing when asked, backing and bending. Slow and calm, in environement that he was comfortable and relaxed. If he is not relaxed, he isn't ready for whatever you are asking them. Then add distractions one at a time. Work within the comfort zone to reinforce the cues. trust and training. JMHO

That said, not all horses are the same and some horses do learn that "spooking" can be a game or a good way to ditch a rider. Different approach here I suppose, had em, sold 'em. Just not the personality I am interested in.
