Gasoline is not an environmentally sound
solution. In addition to the obvious fire hazard, you are putting
hydrocarbons into the environment which do not degrade very fast. They can
get into the water table, and if they evaporate they are air pollution.
Some of the molecules in gasoline are also carcinogens.
You are much better to use a registered pesticide
according to the label directions. Today's registered pesticides do
degrade in the environment. They are screened for toxicity. The long
term toxicity and possible harm to animals etc. is checked. And very
importantly, you are using much less toxic material to accomplish the same
job.
