Re: [RC] re: Loco Weed - Michelle FinkWhile it sounds innocent, 20% acetic acid is a very dangerous chemical. Those are good cautions. However, I do have to occasionally handle Tordon, 24-D, and Glyphophate (Roundup) and don't consider them any safer than acetic acid. Also can't use most of the herbicides around water even for spot treatment (I have ponds, springs, and streams on that parcel). PPS. The Ravalli County, MT weed specialist has not had good luck with it as a control measure. The amounts required to be effective make the cost per acre quite high. I would be interested to know what the protocol for use was, and what weeds they were treating with it. There are results of study online comparing acetic acid vs. Roundup - the study was done by Penn State. http://www.cce.cornell.edu/rensselaer/Horticulture/acetic_acid_as_herbicide.htm Since there were a couple of inquiries, this is the one I used. There is a material data safety sheet link on the page, too. http://www.commonsensecare.com/burnout-weed-killer.html Happy Trails, Michelle (Colorado) =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
