There may be a need for some distinctions in Rules and Regs for the two 
evolving diciplines, if in fact a pro/am kind of evolution progresses.  The 
grassroots riders may not be appreciative of the kinds of controls which 
are needed to protect the equines in the speed intensive events.

An example, even within AERC, is the repeated suggestion that a minimum 
number of vet checks and maximum loop lengths be established (by rule) as 
contrasted to the multi-day ethos of a single 1 hour hold near the 
mid-point of a 50 mile ride.

The one-size-fits-all approach to the governance of the sport may need to 
be resolved.
