[RC] Lost horses - ChrystalI do not want in any way to downplay/minimize the terrible thing that happened to Zoom-Zoom, however please keep in mind that it was one horse out of probably 10's or hundreds that were lost this year!! One family in Ontario lost a horse at a ride this year, he was found a few days later happily munching in a nearby farmers field. At another ride a rider woke up to find her horse gone, a few hours later it was found at a house nearby. I just thought that some "happy ending" stories were needed here, if one has the $ to invest in GPS's etc.... that is excellent but I would think that if someone was on a budget and needed to choose where to spend their $ good fitting tack, heart monitors etc..... are more important to the overall health of the horse! ( The bells were a great, cheap solution.:-) ) P.s. And didn't Zoom-Zoom's owner mention that he was a horse that would make himself a fort and wait for her?? She seemed pretty certain that he would not fend for himself- most horses would manage to look out for themselves I think, A case in point, 3 horses were lost in Quebec last year ( they got out of their fields and took off, do not know why.) Anyway, Quebec is COLD and lots of snow and ice, these horses lived all winter in the forest, one would think subsisting on the bark of trees and not much else, when they were found in the spring they were skinny but otherwise fine!! AND one of the horses was a TB, I never would have thought a TB would have survived that!!:-) :-)lol =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
