[RC] Aussie rules - David LeBlanc

I've been reading the Aussie's endurance rule books.

Jennifer and I went on a horse riding vacation in Queensland in 2000. Turned
out we were the only two riders that week, and that the whole thing was run
by a bunch of endurance riders. Had a lot of fun. During the week, we spent
a lot of time comparing our system to their's - a few key points - they have
much stricter rules than we do about caring for the horse, the people I
talked to thought these rules were fair, and they still have a lot of very
competitive rides. One of the reasons they adopted these rules is that the
animal welfare people started coming after them. From here, it looks like
they have a good system - might be worth talking to some people from down
there who can give some insight and comparisons. Net-net - they implemented
these rules and the sky did not fall.

They do have some rules I think are funny - one about not wearing dangly
earrings so that they won't get caught on the horse or the "shrubbery", and
the bit about looking proper when going to get awards.
