Fw: [RC] [Guest] sports saddle - Karen SullivanI have been riding them for 10 years and am totally sold. They have worked for my riding style and whole variety of different shaped horses. I do not agree it is not an even weight distribution as I always have even sweat patterns, no sore backs, and no white hair indicating pressure points. The saddle is designed to distribute wieght; as the stirrups are hung from both the pommel and cantle. I have never seen another saddle with stirrup design like this, all saddles with trees have fixed stirrup bars in the tree, or other treelesss saddles hang stirrups from one strap that goes over the back of the horse. While some very high mileage folks have found treed saddles that work for them; I am still very surprised at the number of endurnace horses you see at rides with white patches from poor saddle fit, very sad. I hope Karen Chaton emails you. She probably has more miles in sport saddles than anyone I know... multi day rides, 100 mile rides, and even the pony Express ride. I only did 50's in competition, but also have done a lot of horse camping 3-5 days, consistent riding. I use a skito pad designed for the saddle, hvae the stirrups set back under my hips (back 2"), and feel it is a very well made, balanced, lightweight and comfortable for both horse and rider. My current saddle is going on 8 years, with riding almost every day. No rips, tears or any repairs needed. It appears there are quite a few people who use them. Why do you like them? Is it because they fit thehorsebetter than other saddles? What distances are most of you riding? Do you have horses with sore back problems with them on longer distances? Iwouldlike feed back from any one who has ridden in one consistanly forawhile.I have heard that because there is not an even weight distribution youmayend up with sore backs. Is this true? Thank you Lianne =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
