[RC] Equimax -- Anyone Else Having a Negative Reaction? - Suvut
Last night I wormed both my horses (19 and 5) with Equimax, which is the new wormer that gets tapeworms. When I brought them in for breakfast this morning, the 19 yo wouldn't finish his grain, had runny manure, and just wanted to lay around in his stall. He was not pawing, staring at his sides, or rolling..... 5yo was looking perfectly normal.
When I put them back out in the field with piles of fluffed up hay, the 19yo made a bed in the hay and laid down FLAT OUT WITH HIS HEAD DOWN. I watched for 10 minutes and he didn't move. I came back into the house and got a two-year-old shot of Banamine that I had been keeping on hand. Wasn't sure of its effectiveness, but figured it was better than nothing.
Within 30 minutes, the 19 yo was looking normal and eating his hay. I just got back in from evening feed and he's perfectly fine.
My horses are on a regular de-worming schedule and I've had no previous problems...
Question for the vets out there ---- should I be worried about using this product on my two old horses -- 25 and 27 years old? Also, has anyone else out there on RideCamp had any adverse reactions to this product?
