Re: [RC] distance between vet checks & speed - Lynne GlazerI have to agree, Jonni. With an experienced horse, I like the challenges that the multidays present, and have no trouble with one vet check in 50 miles, providing there is some water on trail.Though, as a one day ride manager, I absolutely have to put in the checks as Mollie described. Even with checks every 12-14 miles, riders still make mistakes, underestimate the conditions and override their horses, 3 riders in all at my 6 rides over 5 years (with 120-150 riders per ride). In counterpoint, the ONLY other treatments in all those entries consisted of nothing more than a bit of Banimine. But I have to manage as if the riders won't take the proper precautions.
