Re: [RC] Myofacial Release & Physical Therapy for Horses - Any pt's out there? - Susan GarlinghouseAnyone ever had myofacial release or other physical therapy treatments performed on their horses? Any human physical therapist endurance riders that perform pt on their horses or other riders? I do. I was taught the points from an equine chiropractor friend that practices in So Cal (Dan MacCaffrey, DC, wonderful guy), and then it turned out that alot of the points at musculotendinous, ligaments and such also correlate to the points used in acupuncture and acupressure. Fabulous stuff. I just had surgery done on both of my feet ten days ago and I'm propped up in bed with about a haf dozen needles in each foot, and a fair amount of low frequency, high intensity millivolts zinging around. Feels wonderful and the surgeon said I'm healing at about twice the normal rate. Anyway, Lynne, take lots of notes about the release points---I have no clue about whether such manipulations would be legal during a ride, but they are quite wonderful and very effective for unbinding tight muscles.
