Re: [RC] hay--recommended daily allowances - Susan GarlinghouseThat's pretty good hay. As I continue to wade through my email, Heidi will probably say that selenium needs to be supplemented, and I would agree. Can't tell a whole lot about energy directly (what was the ADF and NDF?), but it's probably around .8-1.0 Mcal per kg, decent for grass hay. Sounds like good hay. Be sure to keep it under cover this winter if you can. (I'm assuming the values would still be about the same?) Can anyone tell me what the ideal values would be, or where I could find this info? After looking at my Susan G notes and searching the archives I think this hay is pretty good so far. At last I have a way of trying to learn more about my hay. Is there anything I should supplement? Here are a few of the results for dry matter: % protein 12.3 % TDN 58 (how's that?) they also have horse TDN 49 % calcium .52 % phosphorus .13 % magnesium .19 % potassium 2.37 % sodium .064 iron ppm 245 zinc ppm 18 copper ppm 8 manganese ppm 97 molybdenum ppm <1 selenium ppm .5 (do I need to supplement? I saw that Heidi said .8-1.0 is ideal) -------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------ Instant message during games with MSN Messenger 6.0.
