Oh Gawd, Truman...I could have done without that visual!  It's not the fear of 
getting bitten that worries me.  I think nothing of yanking embedded ticks out 
of me (and as a wildlife biologist working in the forest, I get a lot of 'em), 
I have a bunch of snakes I maintain at home, including 7 rattlesnakes of 
various species, getting bitten by non-venomous snakes doesn't bother me at 
all, and no other living critter bothers me.  With spiders, it's an actual 
phobia.  The reaction is something I can't control.  Hitting a web sends me 
into a panic.  We have some of those black, yellow, and white garden spiders 
here too, but fewer of them in the pine forest than those gross red ones.  And 
yes, I *do* make my friend Rae (tallcarabians) ride in front of me on 
conditioning rides during spider season!  Thanks Rae!  <G>
