Nicole, thanks for the genetic explanation. (I was about to heave a deep sigh and dive into it, so was relieved to see you'd already done so.) Regarding black CMK horses--there is certainly the occasional black Davenport. Rene Feuille has one in Oregon. Also, the old Babson breeding produces a fair number of blacks--not CMK, but similar old-line breeding.
