Re: [RC] [RC] [Guest] NEVER resort to a violent...? - Sisu West RanchIf I ever do anything as dangerous to you as a horse rearing is, I offer my head for appropriate physical correction. When I was 14 I called my mother a "f... bi..". I did not know that Dad had come home and was right behind me. As I picked myself up, I heard "Nobody talks to your mother like that". This was not child abuse, it was appropriate discipline for human defiance. Needless to say, I treated my Mother with the respect she diserved after that. A rearing horse has to have immediate and forceful correction for this behaviour. I do prefer a plastic baseball bat (the kind sold in toy stores for hitting wiffle balls). It is safer (for the horse), and really scares them into finding other ways to express their displeasure. Contrary to much modern thought, there is a place for pain in training animals and humans. Deliberate defiance, and certain extreme dangerous behaviour are the places.
