Re: [RC] Rabicano Gene/Color Breeding - Jonni JewellAs I understand color, at least with pinto, that unless the parent actually HAS color on its own body, it won't throw color. Meaning, if you have a mare who had a parent that was pinto, but she came out solid, and you bred to a solid stallion, you won't have a chance to get color, as neither of them HAVE color. But again, I am no color expert. I am sure there are some on the list who understand this more. (so if one of the horses to be used in the breeding actually HAS rabicano color, then it could throw rabicano??? I think....) Jonni my mare is also by black Arab carrying the rabicano gene. She is a bay roan rabicano...and he has sired at least two...her dam was a bay Tb with some white spots here and there and she really wanted to throw a pinto! Mine has so many belly spots she is eligible for pinto registration.... =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
